PlayWork Experience programme

At CommuniTree Outdoor Education we deliver holiday clubs throughout the year to enable children to reconnect to nature through play, creativity and celebration.


Duration

Minimum five consecutive days + 1 mandatory training day


Location

Sites in Greater Manchester including Bury Grammar, Summerseat and Dunham Massey


Dates

  • 22nd  - 26th July
  • 29th July - 2nd August
  • 5th - 9th August
  • 12th - 16th August
  • 27th - 30th August


Our PlayWork experience programme is designed for:


  • students in sixth form, college or higher education (17 years and over) who are keen to get an introduction to what a career in childcare and outdoor education may be like.
  • students currently studying or planning to study education, childcare, heath and social care related field
  • students who want to gain hands-on experience in childcare and outdoor education


No previous experience required.

This is an unpaid work experience programme - travel expenses will be reimbursed.


PlayWork Experience Assistant



Role Description

There is an exciting work experience opportunity for students interested in pursuing a career in outdoor education and childcare.


You will have the opportunity to learn new skills and gain valuable experience.


Key relationships – Internal

  • Forest School Leaders
  • Forest School Assistants


Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support the team with the delivery of holiday clubs
  • Support the team with site set up, equipment and resources
  • Support the team to ensure the Health and Safety of all children attending holiday clubs
  • Support the team with site clear up, packing and fully ending the session
  • Report to the Forest School Leader


Responsibilities of all CommuniTree Staff and Volunteers

  • Maintain an awareness of own and others health and safety and comply with CommuniTree’s health and safety procedures
  • Adhere to CommuniTree Outdoor Education values, policies and procedures
  • Comply with all relevant CommuniTree Safeguarding policies
  • A commitment to safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people
  • Attend induction training


Person Specification


Required

  • A real passion for nature play and engaging children with the outdoors
  • Enthusiasm for creating inspiring learning environments
  • Creative, adaptable and self-motivated with great energy
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changes, is flexible and uses initiative 
  • Brilliant teamwork and able to work effectively in a small team
  • Some understanding of safeguarding procedures (training will be provided)
  • Some understanding of health and safety requirements (training will be provided)


Security

  • Successful candidates must pass a disclosure and barring security check
  • Successful candidates must meet the security requirements before they can be appointed
